Day 6- It's All About God

“When we worship God in the hard places, we are reminded that none of this is about us—it’s all about God.” –Lysa TerKeurst

Today is a fast day. You will drink only water until dinner this evening. Take this time to worship and feed on the WORD. Fasting not only holds spiritual benefits but health benefits as well. Benjamin Franklin once said, “I saw few die of hunger, but of eating, over a hundred thousand.”

You will not die of hunger today. You have my promise. Your flesh will suffer and you may be uncomfortable but you will not die. You will be hungry.Try to drink more than 2 liters of water before dinner time today.

“Therefore submit to God.” –James 4:7

Make time to be still and listen to His voice today. You are giving up food to spend more time with Him. If you work, during your lunch break, read Scripture and meditate on His blessings. Don’t forget to write down the quiet whispers from your spirit.

“Whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame who set their mind on earthly things.”—Philippians 3:19

If you haven’t eaten since yesterday’s dinner, your fast will be broken with dinner this evening. A word to the wise, eat light. A warm soup and a glass of water is the best way to ease back in to food.

“I chastened my soul with fasting…”—Psalms 69:10

“So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was entreated of us.”—Ezra 8:23

“[The Lord says:]’…Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me all your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, mourning.’ Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful….”—Joel 2:12,13

“Is not this the fast that I have chosen? To loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?”—Isaiah 58:6

*If you are taking medication, please adjust your fast today to include some form of nutrition, (protein drink, drinkable yogurt, etc.).
